Pilates is a low-impact method of exercise which is kind to your body and can be tailored to meet your specific needs. Whether you already do regular exercise, are new to it or have had a break; have an injury, are expecting a baby or had a baby, Pilates will enable you to tone and strenghten your body creating a more flexible, sleaker and fitter you.
Principles of Pilates
These six essential principles are taught throughout each class to enable you to gain the maximum benefit from Pilates:
Breathing: it's easy to take for granted and yet is integral to life. Using breath to drive movement through our bodies.
Concentration: bringing focus to each part of the body and how they add up to create movement of the whole, resulting in greater awareness of how your body moves in everyday life.
Centering: bringing attention to the core muscles of the body (the Pilates Powerhouse), the source of all movement.
Control: being in control of each part of the body is key to performing the exercises smoothly and correctly.
Precision: perfecting each part of the movement to ensure you gain the most benefit and keep your body healthy.
Flow: a continuous cycle of movement. Each movement flowing smoothly in to the next. We are always in motion.
